London Art Collective presents yearly major exhibition "ArtEvol 2025: Voices from the Undefined" at Saatchi Gallery

13/9/2025

On 12 September 2025, ArtEvol 2025: Voices from the Undefined successfully opened at Saatchi Gallery, curated by Nelson Qin and presented by London Art Collective. The opening ceremony marked the launch of this major exhibition, bringing together artists whose work explores the tensions between technology and the body, the self and the other, and the real and the fictional.

As LAC’s annual exhibition, ArtEvol 2025: Voices from the Undefined reflects on the curatorial themes explored in previous editions, continuing a trajectory from experimental launches to inclusive and collaborative practices. The exhibition features works by 80 artists, and it also highlights voices often overlooked, including those from conflict zones, marginalised communities, and regions beyond the traditional centres of the art world. The participating artists employ keen insight to translate complex social, cultural, and personal experiences into their work, transforming individual gestures, materials, and forms into meaningful narratives. Visitors are invited to engage with these works and encounter the broader themes of identity, resilience, and transformation that resonate throughout the exhibition.

Al-Khafaji’s Fertile Crescent (2025) exemplifies the exhibition’s focus on identity and displacement, curating the losses and complexities endured by those most directly affected by the 2003 Iraq invasion. Using oil on linen alongside ceramic, war memorabilia, and steel, the work juxtaposes a fractured replica of a Tell Asmar female idol with a British war-issued helmet, creating a triadic narrative of historical loss, cultural survival, and personal reflection.

Other highlights include Joan Horrach’s Somehow, Elsewhere (2025), a durational video performance transforming repetitive human movement into a meditation on mechanisation and societal influence; Rush Drayton’s Still Life (2025), which challenges human exceptionalism through reimagined 17–19th century still-life conventions; and Curtis Holder’s panoramic drawing Dance of Eshu (2024), capturing gestures and emotional expression to embody energy, vulnerability, and freedom. Together, these works exemplify the exhibition’s engagement with undefined positions and processes of becoming.

ArtEvol 2025: Voices from the Undefined demonstrates LAC’s continued dedication to supporting emerging artists and experimental practices. By presenting a wide range of works from diverse and often underrepresented voices, the exhibition offers audiences the opportunity to engage with perspectives that challenge conventional ideas of art and its role in society. It invites reflection on identity, resilience, and the ways in which contemporary art can respond to both personal and collective experiences, encouraging visitors to consider the broader possibilities of creative practice beyond traditional frameworks.

Special thanks to gallery rosenfeld and the ArtEvol 2025 Committee for their invaluable support in realising this exhibition. ArtEvol 2025: Voices from the Undefined runs at the Saatchi Gallery from 12–19 September 2025.
