The inspiration for Yijuan Wang’s work stemmed from a time when she was traveling across the country, and there were no accommodations available for her. She encountered people living on the streets and reflected on the fact that she had not noticed them before. They were an invisible group, lost in the crowds during the day. However, at night, as more and more people returned to their homes, only the homeless remained. She pondered their past lives, considering that they might have once lived comfortably and securely until something changed. She wondered about the escape they found in their dreams.
