Chunhan Chen, a multidisciplinary artist with a background in science and tech-driven new media, is a self-taught photographer who has found her niche in street photography, exploring the world through the lens of both digital and film cameras. At New York University Tisch School of the Arts, she learned darkroom techniques and Black & White film photography, further expanding her artistic vocabulary. Recently, she's been using 35mm and medium-format films to capture intriguing life moments. Her series, "Veiled in Violet," explores the mysterious and uncertain elements of daily life, using the colour purple as a symbolic thread. Cameras like Olympus Pen FT, Nikon FA, and Rolleiflex help her record these vibrant, spontaneous moments. Through her work, Chen encourages viewers to dive into the unknown and find their interpretations of her "purple" mysteries, hoping to evoke curiosity and inspire exploration of their surroundings.
