“What makes something precious is how little time we have with it.”
— A. R. Turner
From 12 to 19 September 2025, London Art Collective, in collaboration with Saatchi Gallery, presents the first solo exhibition of American artist A. R. Turner, titled Energy. Bringing together twelve newly commissioned works, the exhibition offers an immersive exploration of time, eternity, and perception.
“Energy” is a central motif that resonates deeply throughout Turner’s creative journeys. For the artist, energy is a cryptic dialogue — with his former self, with the traces of time, and with nature’s subtle rhythm. A. R. Turner: Energy, as his debut solo exhibition, traces the artist’s fieldwork across vast and varied landscapes — the Sonoran Desert, the Rocky Mountains, El Picacho del Diablo, and the Acropolis — culminating in London, not as an endpoint, but as another site where energies converge, refract, and transform. More than a record of travels, the exhibition unfolds a deeply personal narrative of growth and commitment.
Throughout Turner’s process, the word energy recurred — to describe the light falling on the back of a banana tree, the overwhelming vastness of a foreign mountain range, the fleeting encounter with an albino deer, or the sheer intensity of colour in its most elemental form. This exhibition began with that word — and the desire to follow where it might lead: to the shifting edge between beauty and danger, fragility and strength, transience and endurance.
Experience, Transformation, Nature, and Pace form the four cornerstones of Turner’s creative philosophy. These are not abstract ideas, but lived states — shaping the way he observes, feels, and creates. His work is grounded in first-hand experience, drawing from moments of risk, vulnerability, and change. In his words, “Nature is a key component to every one of these paintings, mapping my own soul’s growth.”
This slow, attentive approach becomes a quiet act of resistance against the fragmented pace of contemporary life. Turner’s paintings urge us to engage with the world more mindfully — to see with care and feel with depth.
At its heart, Energy invites us to reflect on the flux and fragility that define our existence — to embrace the thresholds where life’s force meets its vulnerability. These works unfold as meditations on transformation and resilience, reminding us that energy is never static but a continuous state of becoming. In dialogue with nature and time, Turner offers not just visual narratives, but emotional landscapes — where meaning resides in the fleeting, and presence becomes a form of strength.
