The 'I am Yu_' project explores merging Self and Other until identity boundaries dissolve into ultimate oneness. As the opening chapter, this painting, “The end of the new beginning_metamorphosis,” visualizes internal emotions as human forms taking shape within primordial chaos.
Tangled, exposed figures reveal the raw vulnerability of human existence, while minimal wrist and head ornaments serve as symbolic Armor evoking ancient goddess-like dignity. Rendered in a monotone palette, the work strips away external "false colours" to capture the pure vibration and density of existence. It marks the first step in a six-part journey toward total Ego dissolution and ultimate liberation.
Yu Rim Gough is a Korean-born, self-taught visual artist based in Cambridge, UK. Working without boundaries of medium or form, all creative elements flow through her as a natural channel.
After over a decade in ceramics, a profound inner transformation led her from clay to large polygon canvases. Free from conventional labels, she fearlessly shares her journey—exploring human existence, ego dissolution, and turning life's dualities into oneness.
Her art is a journey toward pure vulnerability, a place of fearless freedom and deep fulfilment. This constant effort to stay awake lives on through her work.
