'The Remains II'
This work takes a Dutch still-life painting as its starting point. The flowers, objects and elaborate frame represent wealth, beauty and status. I use fire to break down the image, turning something made to be admired and preserved into something fragile and uncertain. What remains becomes a reflection on value, power and what we choose to preserve.
