About the work

Photographed at Dungeness, 'The Boundary Repeats' isolates an overlooked structure of fencing and barriers. Repeated lines establish a rhythm of enclosure, while shifts in tone and perspective make the structure difficult to read as a single, stable boundary. What begins as a practical device for dividing space becomes an image of accumulated marks and uncertain depth. The work considers how boundaries are made, maintained and unsettled by their surroundings, asking where a line of control ends and a landscape begins.

Mark Christopher Parry

Mark Christopher Parry is a British multidisciplinary artist based in Margate, Kent. Working across photography, painting, sculpture, installation and digital processes, he examines the shifting relationships between landscape, material and human intervention. Drawn to places where natural and constructed systems meet, he focuses on coastal defences, temporary barriers, overlooked architecture and objects of uncertain purpose. His work moves between observation and ambiguity, revealing tensions around access, change and material memory. Coastal and island geographies inform recurring themes of emergence, threshold and fragment. He holds an MFA in Fine Art and has exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and the RWA Annual Open.
