'Boom' started life as a series of small separate paintings of explosions. I took pleasure in taking lethal subject matter and transforming it into benevolent gem like miniatures so small they would fit inside a pocket.
As the series progressed it became clear that they were more interesting when viewed together, they started to resemble plant life - moss, flowers, trees - thereby imitating the very things they destroy.
I started to work on it as a whole piece.
It was ongoing for more than three years & It's not lost on me that this subject has become ever more relevant as it progressed.
War was always there - but it feels closer today than it was yesterday.
