About the work

The 'CMB' is the oldest light in the universe, echoing faintly from the Big Bang, with a fraction still visible in analogue TV static.

‍

Unlike a smooth HD print, a woven 'CMB' image is fragmentary, bringing its constructedness to the fore. Moving this data from historically patriarchal 'hard science' to the 'soft' domain of textiles, the work performs a feminist intervention, reclaiming the 'fabric of the universe' from abstract physics & grounding it in an institutionally-sidelined, tactile realm of knowing. It traces a counter throughline from the origins of the universe, computation & knowledge-making, incorporating indigenous, queer, female & othered positionalities, understanding reality as a mobile mesh of relations, knots & tensions.
