'The Meat (Red)' explores the body through the visual language of raw meat. Using etching, the organic textures and forms of meat are translated into a tactile printed image, reflecting on vulnerability, consumption, and the ways in which the body can be reduced to an object or material. The work questions the boundaries between the body, the object, and the abject.
Aner Wang is a London-based artist and printmaker whose practice focuses on experimental printmaking, installation art, texture, mark-making and materiality. She holds a BA in Illustration from Edinburgh College of Art and an MA in Fine Art Drawing from Camberwell College of Arts, UAL. Her practice explores the body, intimacy, memory and vulnerability through tactile processes of print and image-making. Working across etching, photo-etching and experimental printmaking, she investigates printed surfaces, layering and texture. Her material-based practice also extends into installation, exploring how printed matter, found materials and sculptural forms can create physical and spatial experiences.
