Young Artist Project

This series of works is my tribute toSebastião Salgado—a witness to suffering, a pioneer of barren lands, and a greatmaster of documentary photography. I hope Sebastião Salgado will bestow upon me an unceasing source of strength—to record, to witness, to protect, and to spread the magnificent wisdom of humanity and its cultural heritage. I offer this as a tiny"sweet token"—for the Earth, for photography, and for Sebastião Salgado, who guides my path.

Lyu Xianglin, an 11th-grade student at Keystone Academy in Beijing. He is passionate about photography and music and has a gift for capturing the subtle, fleeting moments of the world through his lens—using his images to convey not just emotions, but also profound reflections that resonate with viewers. He often seeks inspiration in music and expresses himself through art. He has won the National Gold Medal in Photography and the National Gold Medal in Film& Animation at the U.S. Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, as well as numerous regional gold medals, silver medals, and honourable mentions in photography.
